Transformational Reconstruction (TR): a creative patternmaking technique that turns conventional patterns into unexpected geometric shapes, sculptural structures and innovative designs.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
During this six-hour masterclass, we will explore the fundamental differences between Western and Japanese approaches to patternmaking, examining how Japanese designers challenged established construction methods and changed fashion history.
You will be introduced to the philosophy and creative experimentation of Rei Kawakubo and Issey Miyake before moving into practical exercises inspired by Shingo Sato's Transformational Reconstruction technique.
This is an opportunity to develop a different design mindset, experiment with unconventional construction and discover how technical knowledge can become a powerful instrument of creative freedom.
