The Total — and What's Included

Pattern Making Certificate is $14,768.50 covers the full 15-month and Fashion Design Certificate Program is $26,325.

That includes all four 15-week modules, all instruction, and studio and sample room access at 24B Monroe Street, Norwalk, CT. There are no hidden lab fees or course add-ons baked in later — the total is the total.

How Payment Works

We've designed tuition around the reality of adult life — you don't pay it all upfront.

1.  Reserve your spot — a $2,000 holding fee secures your place in a cohort.

2.  Pay term-by-term — the remaining balance is paid across the four modules as you progress through the program, not as a single lump sum.

3.  Payment plans available — if term-by-term still feels like too much at once, talk to us. Payment plans exist so cost doesn't become the reason you don't start.

In the early 1980s, Japanese designers challenged the established language of Western fashion. Rei Kawakubo and Issey Miyake introduced radically different perspectives on the relationship between fabric, body, space and form, transforming the way the fashion world understood garment construction.

Their work demonstrated that patternmaking could be more than a technical process. It could become a philosophy, a creative language and an entirely new way of thinking about design.

Transformational Reconstruction (TR): a creative patternmaking technique that turns conventional patterns into unexpected geometric shapes, sculptural structures and innovative designs.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

During this six-hour masterclass, we will explore the fundamental differences between Western and Japanese approaches to patternmaking, examining how Japanese designers challenged established construction methods and changed fashion history.

You will be introduced to the philosophy and creative experimentation of Rei Kawakubo and Issey Miyake before moving into practical exercises inspired by Shingo Sato's Transformational Reconstruction technique.

This is an opportunity to develop a different design mindset, experiment with unconventional construction and discover how technical knowledge can become a powerful instrument of creative freedom.
